How to change your perception and create the life you want

inspirational quote

Hi, Alex here, to help you change your perception, to see the order in the chaos and to create the life you want.

But first, why am I talking about changing your perception in the first place?

Good question!

Changing your perception is the secret to creating your own reality. It is not so much about what happens to you but how you perceive it.

So, what is changing your perception?

Almost all of us have gone through some either loss, betrayal, heartbreak, grief, illness, financial distress or any other hardships.

We have two options:

  • One option is to be and stay as a victim; then nothing in your life will change.
  • A second option is to find the order in the chaos and to ask ourselves, what were the lessons we had to learn, act on it and let the past go once and for all.

It is up to you, which way you want to go.

Now, you might ask, well, ok I decided for option 2 but how do I change my perception?

I am not saying it is a lovely task to do, but it will definitely help you to release the past once and for all. There is always something positive in a negative situation.

But how do you deal and release the past without dwelling on it?
a) Make a list of past hurts

What helped me to finally release the past, was to write down everything that bothered me, made me angry, frustrated or even sad. Every single hurt in my past was on the list including the lack of money, love or success. Whatever comes up for you, write it all down. The point is not to roll around in pain again, it just to notice. I know it does not feel nice to capture all the crap from our past. Stay with me, in a few minutes you will feel much better.

b) What are the lessons you learned?

Once you are done, sit back quietly, meditate on it if you like to and ask yourself, what is it I had to learn from all that. Maybe you actually turned your learnings already into actions, but you never noticed it or acknowledged it as such. There is always something you take away for your personal growth. Use a different piece of paper and write down everything that comes to your mind of what you have learned.

I give you a few examples of lessons learnt which might be relevant for you too:

Love yourself
Set your boundaries and
Value yourself.
These were a big one for me. I never valued myself and was giving services away for free. This is giving but not receiving. Energy cannot flow this way, this is not good for the person who gives but also not any good for the individual who received the free service. Setting boundaries was another huge learning for me. I learned to say yes to myself and stop pleasing others.

A lack of money goes back to the same thing; if we don’t value ourselves, we keep spending money on things we don’t need or keep saying yes to underpaid jobs and never ask for a pay rise.

Maybe you will also realise that you had to go through all of the things to find out what your purpose in life is. You might find yourself helping and inspire other people who experience the same thing and need someone like you. There is always a gift presented in the tough things in life if we allow ourselves to see it.

c) Write a thank you letter

Once you have written down a list of the things you learned, write a thank you letter. You might want to do it like this:

Thanks ___________ for letting me experience  ____________. You showed me that I have to _________ (e.g. set my boundaries/ value myself, love myself….) I started to  __________ (e.g. if ‘set my boundaries’ was the learning: to say yes to myself and no to things and people in my life who drain my energy…use examples; if you have not done so, write down the intention to do so. Be specific.)

d) Eliminate the negative list and read out loud your thank you letter

Now you can burn or shredder the negative things you experienced. Make a ritual out of it if you like. Say out loud, that this past situation can now go and leave your energy field.

Now, before you go to bed, breathe in and out slowly, then read out loud the thank you letter. Notice how you feel after this and especially after this night’s sleep. You might have a dream which processes the remaining bits and pieces to be released. Don’t worry about this. This is part of the healing process.

You will feel much lighter after this exercise, you will feel like a huge weight was taken off you.

Changing the perspective and being grateful for the lessons we learned is transforming our lives. We are now open to receive positive high vibrational energy into your field. You will see how things are going to shift. You will be more open to new opportunities.

Remember, some hurt can sit very deep and you might want to read out this thank you letter several times before you can fully see the results in your life.

There is never a loss but a transformation.

What do you do now?

Do you still feel overwhelmed with all this? I can imagine, I have been through this myself, and I wished I had someone who helped me when I needed it. I hear you.

Inspirational quote of the week

law of attractoin

Welcome to an inspirational quote of the week:

Half of our lives we spend dreaming about what we want to achieve, the other half we spend worrying if we will ever get there, I live like I already have it.

What a great reminder to stop worrying and to trust the universe. Don’t just dream about your goals but start to action on it. Live your life like you already have achieved your goals. You will see how opportunities will come in, if this is the right path for you. Trust the flow and embrace the journey. Namaste.

The weekly inspirational quotes – follow your heart

inspirational quotes

Welcome to my weekly inspirational quotes, which help us to stay on track and remember there is something bigger than us.

This week’s inspirational quote is:

The universe reveals its secret to those who dare to follow their hearts.

Remember to follow and trust your heart. Our mind is not always right and mostly trapped by our ego. Sometimes we listen to other people but don’t trust ourselves. Bear in mind, that other people tell us what they think is right based on their values and experiences. That’s fine but it does not mean it is the right solution for you.

So, next time you need to make a decision, try to listen to your body and whatever feels right for you. Some people need to feel it in their heart or in their gut. Trust yourself, follow your heart and you will see that the universe is responding to you.

My new creativity blog is born – Health and Life coach for creatives

Who I am and why I am here was one big question I was dealing with for the last year and the reason I stopped blogging. I was going through my own personal journey to discover myself and my true soul’s purpose. Now, I have some big news: I recently became a certified Health and Life Coach and specialise in creative people like you and me. Going forward I am going to share tips and stories which helped me to find my purpose in life and living a life which is in line with my creative personality. My new creativity blog is born, and I am looking forward to having you creative folks on board.

Why a Health and Life Coach Why Now?

I can say I am feeling content and fulfilled with my life right now. I found my purpose, but that has not always been like this. It took me years to find out who I truly am.

How it all began

I was born and raised in Germany and moved to Australia in 2007. That’s where my journey began to discover myself. I was working as an auditor in big corporations. I always thought that was my career and I made my parents happy. However, it never made me happy. Something was missing, but I couldn’t tell what it was. I blamed the long working hours and the company.

In 2010 I changed to a bigger corporation, and my life went downwards. My health suffered. I was stressed like never before, always tired even though I slept for 7-8 hours each night. Going to dancing schools or gym was not an option any longer because I had no energy to move. I worked to at least midnight every night even on weekends. My life was feeling like hell to me. I gained weight and felt horrible; I couldn’t look into the mirror any longer. The person I saw in the mirror was not me. What happened?

My turning point

Luckily, my employer sent me to a leadership seminar, which was about life and our values. I realised that the life I lived was not the life I imagined to have and was not even in line with my values. It was time to stop living a life to please others but to step into my own personal power and change my life.

First, I had to get into a healthy state. From that day on, I signed up for dancing classes, left work early and went to the gym. It felt good. My food choices were healthy, but now I paid more attention to the amount of sugar I ate. We sometimes don’t realise how much sugar is hidden in everything we eat. My energy level doubled, and I never felt that healthy and sexy. My stress level reduced significantly, and I was more productive at work. In fact, I could prove with numbers that I managed to complete more work in fewer hours.

Now, this sounds like I made it? No, not yet. This was just the beginning. I gained clarity on what I liked doing. I bought a DSLR and signed up for a photography course, taught myself a lot about photography and travelled around the world whenever I could get enough leave.

Something had changed in me during that time. My values became clearer to me. I faced the real world I was still living in. Even though I was on top of my work, people were not happy with me leaving work early. I felt this internal block to keep travelling along this path, and I was wondering what was wrong with me. Well, nothing was wrong with me, I just didn’t live my truth. I was trying to fit in to please others but not myself.

Over the years I nourished myself and read a lot of self-help and spiritual books, did meditations on a regular basis. That helped me to learn more about myself and who I truly am.

It didn’t take me long to discover that I just worked differently as a creative person. You can’t put a creative person in a 9-5 job without giving them time to pursue their passion. Creative people will die from the inside. I met so many creative people in my life, and they all face the same challenges, most people don’t even realise that they are creative. It became evident to me that my mission is to help creative people to gain back their health and see clearly what they are made of. I love to help them to unlock their own personal power, to change their disempowering into empowering beliefs and be the creative person they are born to be.

My life now

I am now a certified Health and Life Coach. This is my calling, and I put all of my passion into my work as a coach.

Don’t wait 10 or more years to discover what you want. Life happens, and sometimes we become so stuck in our daily habits we feel it’s all too hard to change. However, you can change with the help of a health and life coach who will guide you along the way and provide you with the right system, support and accountability to make the change your body and soul are longing for!

Life is a mirror

Life is a mirror. Everything in your mind will be reflected back at you. So watch out what is going on in your mind and what you are thinking.

Once you understand this concept, this is a life changer. If you are being negative, you send out negative energy vibrations and guess what? You will receive negative results. Once you learn how to shift your thinking and being positive, your energy level will increase and you will harvest your fruits. However, it is not as easy as it sounds like.

Unfortunately just having a desire does not necessarily give you what you want. That’s why lots of people who tried the law of attraction are failing and blaming this not to be true. The problem is your energy in your body. Everything is made of energy. I believe everybody has some sort of issues and baggage to deal with and if you believe in past lives, some of the problems might even stam from there. Subconsciously we might hang on to a certain belief system which can be triggered by some negative experiences from this or past lives if you believe so. You can think as positively as you want, you won’t get it because subconsciously you are blocking yourself. The best way to deal with this is to acknowledge your problems and to let go. For some people yoga or meditation is the way to get aware of all the little issues and false belief systems we have. Once you realise, let it go and write down your true new believe. You can feel a shift in your energy and will notice how suddenly the law of attraction is working.

“Life is a mirror: if you frown at it, it frowns back; if you smile, it returns the greeting.”
― William Makepeace Thackeray –

I love the photos below which reflect the beauty of the world we live in and everybody can see. The only thing we need to do is to open our mind and heart. The second photo reflects the mirror of our life.

What a dramatic sky. I was at home being sick when the light in my living room turned into a golden pink, I looked out of the window and could not believe what I saw. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a photo of the trees in Gunnamatta Bay, Cronulla, from my balcony. The colours blew me away.

First I was disappointed not being able to go down to the bay to take photos but I was saying to myself to be creative instead. In the end I loved the result, different and not a typical sunset photo.

I was playing around with that photo in the Macphun softwares. The result of my creativity is the following photo:

What to do to fight your fears from getting what you want

Let’s start with the good news. Fear is learned; you are not born with it, which means you can unlearn it.

Fear is sabotaging our success. People are mostly scared of failure, rejection or loss in any area of life, such as job, finance, and love. We avoid risks altogether and will miss out on the most incredible experiences and success we could face.

The most frequent reactions to fear are being paralyzed and not to do anything. It is the typical “I can’t do” attitude, the fear of failure and loss. This type of fear can be severe. You might feel your heart starts pounding; your mouth and throat go dry, and your breath might be affected. This type of fear shuts down your brain and causes to revert to the ‘fight-or-flight’ reaction. To live with fear is horrible as it affects our happiness and holds us back in our entire life if we don’t start doing something about it.

Below are some tips on what to do to fight the fear in yourself:

  1. Be aware of what are you scared of and why

The first step to healing your fear is to be aware of what scares you. Not everybody knows that.  The next question is why are you feeling fear? Write it down.

Once you worked out what exactly it is, confront your fear. It might be a particular person or situation. Deal with it and don’t allow this to make you unhappy.

2. Go through your list of reasons, try to analyze it and move on in life staying positive

Are your reasons due to your belief or because of one or more bad experiences you have made? If that is the case, try to switch around your mindset. Is your idea real or just imaginary? If your fear relates to bad experiences you have made, attempt to get rid of it in your mindset. Remember the positive experiences and forget the negative ones. I know it is hard and sometimes not possible. Even though remember, everything happened for a reason. Maybe God was just telling you very loudly to change your life as you were not happy at that particular moment and the change was needed, but you were too comfortable in your situation? Whatever the reason was, remember only the positive things and believe that something better is waiting for you. Sometimes we need that push to realise that something better is out there for us. Don’t assume that your past issues will repeat all your life. It will when your mindset stays negative, and you keep yourself remembering the bad things.

Facing your fear and moving towards it, will ensure your fear is diminishing.

In contrast, when you move away from your fear it will become larger. It will then dominate your thinking and feeling, preoccupies you during the day, and often keeps you awake at night.

3. Imagine your bright future

Your mindset and how disciplined you try to fix it will be the determinator of your success. Visualise your bright future with whatever you desire. Imagine as if no fear exists. You will see how your world around you will change suddenly.

Act as if, walk and talk, and carry yourself exactly as you would if you haven’t had any fears. Stand up with confidence, smile, move with courage. Feel a certain way and you automatically will act the same way.

Do the things you fear until that fear eventually disappears. At the same time, your self-esteem will go up, your self-respect increases and you will be proud of yourself. You never know, but you might end up in a situation where you are not afraid of anything.

“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you. They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.” – C. JoyBell C.

The benefits of forgiveness

Lots of us have been hurt in some way. It might have been your parents, your colleagues or boss might have sabotaged you or your partner betrayed you. The wounds can stay with you forever, you may feel bitter and full of anger, you might start to believe that everybody will do this to you. You start losing trust in others, which is eventually damaging you. A friend of mine was saying once: “Don’t let anyone rent space in your head for free.” I know it is easier said than done, but try to imagine all the bad things happened to you, put all of it into a big balloon. Can you see the problems floating around in there? Now get ready, burn it and let it go into the sky. See how it destroys itself and all your negative issues are gone? I know, it is not as simple as that, but you get the point.e

Forgiveness is the hardest thing to do, but once you do, you will open up for the better. Let go of the grudges and bitterness, don’t hold on to anger and wishing the worst to the person who has hurt you. This will only bring more negativity. Instead, forgive, even though it is hard. You will realise how much your heart will start to open. New and great things will be happening to you. Embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy.

How do you forgive and what does it mean?

It is your decision to let go of resentment and anger. Whatever it was that hurt you might always remain part of your life, but forgiveness can help you to focus on new and more positive things. You might even feel empathy, and you understand the situation better, or you feel compassion for the one who hurt you.

Forgiveness does not mean you deny the other person’s responsibility, and it does not justify what happened. Forgive that person without excusing the act. It will benefit in moving your life forward.

What other advantages can you get from forgiving others? It will bring you:

  • Healthier relationships
  • Greater spiritual and psychological well-being
  • Less anxiety, stress and hostility
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Fewer symptoms of depression
  • Stronger immune system
  • Improved heart health and
  • Higher self-esteem.

When forgiving that person, stop seeing yourself as a victim and release the control of offending the person and situation.

“Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger. Forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.” – Jim Henson

15 reasons why you should let go of your past

sunrise

Letting go of guilt, anger, love, loss or betrayal is one of the hardest parts because we are mostly scared of change. We fight to hold on but also fight to let go. Once you have been hurt your soul is breaking, your perspective on life will change.

Even though it is hard, here are some reasons why you should let go:

  1. Let go of the things which do not serve you any longer, do not grow you or make you unhappy, only then you will live a happy and meaningful life you deserve.
  2. Some rejections in your life are only re-direction to something better.
  3. Letting go frees you from unnecessary stress and gives you a peaceful state of mind.
  4. It makes you a stronger person. Letting go means you leave your comfort zone and decide for taking on new opportunities.
  5. Letting go is not to say you don’t care about someone anymore, you just take ownership over your life.
  6. You don’t lose the things you let go. Instead, you lose the things you cling on to. Have you ever struggled to find a new job or love and you realised that you found it the minute you gave up? That is the paradox of letting go.
  7. You cannot move forward if you keep looking backwards. Unless you let go, forgive yourself or someone else or that the situation is over, you are not able to move forward.
  8. Forgiving is letting go of the past which gives you inner peace.
  9. Once you let go of the past, you are ready to have something better.
  10. “In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.” Deepak Chopra
  11. Letting go gives you freedom and thus happiness.
  12. It means you know there is a future for you.
  13. The pain of letting go is less than missing your destiny.
  14. Let go of the life you have been planning, you open yourself to the life that God has in store for you.
  15. Do not force things which are not working anymore. If things are meant to happen, it will, if not, open up to new opportunities for something better.

“Letting go means to come to the realisation that some people are a part of your history, but not a part of your destiny.”
― Steve Maraboli

The worst part of success is trying to find someone who is happy for you

This is a quote I am passionate about. You probably experienced this type of situation in your life where you achieved something major for yourself, or you are fulfilling your dream and people react with jealousy.

Don’t be jealous. Jealousy is being negative. You don’t want others to be successful? Why not, be happy for them, show your tears of joy. If you want to achieve or do the same, then do it and stop being negative about it.

Being happy for others is being genuine and positive, which attracts more of the good things in your life. It feels good if you are happy for somebody else. You can make similar choices in your life and have the same things if you want to. It is up to you. There is absolutely no need for being jealous.

“The worst part of success is trying to find someone who is happy for you.”

Decide what to do with the time given to us

I love this quote from J.R.R. Tolkien. Make the most of every opportunity because life can be short. You never know what will happen tomorrow. So enjoy and be grateful for every day.

We cannot choose to live in other times or jump into the future immediately if we don’t like a current situation. However, you do have a choice about what to do in the here and now. It is your decision of how you want to live and what you want to do. Be grateful for the gift of life.

What is it you always wanted to do? Why are you still dreaming about it? Write down what you want and the reasons why you haven’t pursued it yet. Now read it again and be honest with yourself. Are your reasons excuses? If your answer is yes, then forget about the excuses and just do it. Do not waste any time.

Are you still not sure? Is fear holding you back? Now, that can be a serious issue. I recently wrote an article about it: “How to overcome your fears”: click here to read more about it. Are you scared of failure? You most likely will not fail if your mindset is positive and if you do experience unpleasant things, take it as a lesson learned. You have nothing to lose.

Still not sure? Ask yourself if you would horribly miss out if there wouldn’t be a tomorrow? If the answer is yes, go for it and don’t hold back.

It is your life; you make the decisions of what to do in the time given to you.

For me, it was to fulfil my dream travelling to South America. It was the best decision I have ever made. The photo below is me after the hike to the Fitz Roy mountain glacier lake; it was an 8 hours hike return, exhausting but rewarding.
