Day #14 from stress to success: Love what you do and do what you love

Welcome to day #14 of the 31-day challenge: from stress to success. Today’s secret to success is:

Love what you do and do what you love

To be successful and feeling fulfilled in our life can be easy when we allow ourselves to trust our inner wisdom, intuition and inspiration. Once we are clear what we value most, we don’t even think about not working towards our goals. We start to run on autopilot and overcome all challenges in the way. We see these problems as learning lessons and stepping stones.

The problem with too many people is that they are not trusting their inner wisdom, don’t allow to listen to their intuition and instead trying to discuss their life path with other people, ask them for the advice of what they should do. This happens when we don’t trust ourselves, especially during times when we feel uncertain and filled with self-doubt, fear or guilt. Taking on other people’s advice is doing only one thing – it messes up in our head. Remember, every single person on this planet has their own set of values; nobody, not even your partner, is identical. We are unique human beings with our own path. Only you know the answer. So if you ask other people for the advice of what you should be doing, they will answer based on their values. Of course, they mean it in a right way because they want the best for you but what if your path is entirely different to other people?

Having said this, mentors will be very helpful as long as they only ask you questions to help you find the answer in yourself. Unfortunately, most people or mentors in corporations don’t do this and just tell you what they would be doing. So, choose your mentors wisely or book a coach who can help you to trust your inner guidance and transforms your old limiting beliefs for good.

Don’t get messed up in your head and learn how to trust yourself. The stress starts when you do things other people tell you to do but it is not in line with your values. Then you basically run against your own energy. This is exhausting. That’s when we start giving up as soon as a minor challenge comes up because we keep saying to ourselves that it is too hard. That’s when we start comparing ourselves to others and punish ourselves when we don’t hit the standard.

If that’s you experiencing it right now, stop right here and ask yourself: Is what I am doing in line with my highest intrinsic values or do I live a life based on other people’s values? As soon as you realise you use the words: should, have to or must….you can be sure, you follow someone else’s values and not your own. You are walking on a different path but not yours.

Now, the good news is, that it is not too late. Being aware of the situation is already the first step towards change. Once you realised that you are living your life based on shoulds, have to or need to, ask yourself what it is you value most? What is something you love doing, which makes you jump out of bed in the morning and nobody needs to remind you to do it? What makes your heart sing? Ask yourself if it is a “hell yes” or a “no”. Yes, there is nothing in between. So if it is not a ‘hell yes’, change it or link it to your values and goals. It might be a stepping stone for you right now so you can achieve your goal in the future.

Doing what you love doing is making you experience fulfilment in life. It is enhancing your self-worth. Not following your path is hindering your self-esteem and leads to stress and exhaustion.

Even when you realise that you are in a career or relationship which does not fulfil you and you feel trapped or in a hopeless situation. Don’t! Remember everything you do is happening for a reason, you might have had to learn specific experiences and lessons to move towards your actual goal. Or you just had to learn a lesson of trusting your intuition rather than other people’s advice.

Whatever you are presently doing, perceive it as a stepping stone to ever-greater things ahead. If for some reason you are not ready to move towards your next goal, link what you are currently doing to your goal and embrace and learn everything you can. In the meantime, you can start and prepare building your dream.

Having a purpose for what you do is essential. It helps you to focus on the things which matter and to get rid of the things which don’t.

If you are still unsure of what it is you love doing, I am going to offer a free workbook which is helping you to find out what your intrinsic values are. In order to receive this, please join my closed facebook group . I am going to make this available only in that group by the end of this challenge.

Action steps:

1. If you feel that you aren’t doing what you love, write down at least 20 benefits of whatever you are currently doing. As you’re writing this list, keep in mind that whatever you’re engaged in is merely a stepping – stone. It’s preparing you for what you would love to do tomorrow. This will help you put your heart more fully into your day.

2. If you do feel that you’re already doing what you love, write down a long list of its benefits. Keep writing until you feel your heart opens up even more to your daily life.

Affirmation:

I do what I love, and I love what I do.

Day #6 from stress to success: Write and read your affirmations

affirmation

Welcome to day #6 of the 31-day challenge: from stress to success. Today’s secret to success is:

Write and read your affirmations

Our lives are reflecting our self-talk. We attract what we constantly say to ourselves. It becomes a reality. If we keep saying to ourselves that we don’t get that particular thing…guess what, we won’t get it because we focus on not getting it. What happens when we shift our focus to: “I am going to achieve xyz… I don’t know how and when but I am going to get it.” we suddenly focus on the positive outcome and can see opportunities coming in. We are more aware and pick up everything that could help us in achieving our goal.

As an example of how self-talk can create reality, let’s look at my story:

I realised some years ago that I am very intuitive but didn’t trust it in the beginning. My inner voice was telling me that this is just wishful thinking. So I usually made different decisions in my life based on what other people advised or what my logical mind came up with. Mostly it didn’t work out and was not the right decision. So I started to keep saying to myself: “I fully trust my intuition; I know the answer already, it is right inside me.”

Looking back at my last 2 years, I more and more stepped into my intuition. Others could tell me all sorts of logical reasons, but I made decisions based on my inner knowing. That’s how I became a Health and Life Coach, it was my inner guidance screaming at me to follow this path. It was my intuition which told me to go to the Health coaching conference in Miami last year even though I did not have the money to do so. I remembered my affirmation to fully trust my intuition. Well, money came my way out of the blue. I received two emails about a request for a photo shooting, even though I never considered or advertised my photography services for portraits. I am a landscape photographer, but in this case, I said: yes. It turned out to be so much fun, and my clients were happy with the results, and I could use the money towards my costs for Miami. This Live event was precisely the place where I was meant to be. I met some fantastic people and a special person called Hilary who is still my coach and accountability partner for my business right now. If I hadn’t gone, I would not be where I am today.

This taught me two things: first to trust my intuition but then also how powerful affirmations are. Now I don’t need this particular affirmation any longer, it became second nature to me. However, there are new affirmations I am currently using. We are always evolving and on a journey.

Because of affirmations, I started to listen and trust myself. One important thing to mention is that we have to feel the affirmation deeply in our heart. Keep saying it until you believe it. Say it over and over again, every day.

Practical action steps:

1. Take your list of goals and high priority action steps and transform these into affirmation statements. If for example, your goal is to be a successful entrepreneur and make $1m revenues, then convert this goal into the following affirmation. Make sure you start with ‘I am…” this gives you the feeling that you have it already. “I am a successful entrepreneur who generates $1m revenue this year.”

2. Each day, reread and rewrite your highest priority affirmations.

3. Say your affirmation with feelings, as if they were already true.

Affirmation:

My affirmations are true, and I say them form my heart every day.

Day #5 From Stress to Success: Visualise your success

visualisation

Welcome to tip #5 of the 31 days from stress to success challenge:

Visualise your success.

I am sure you are all aware of the law of attraction. It always starts with visualising your success. If we are unclear of our vision, it creates stress, whereas focusing on our vision leads to success. Seeing the details in our mind is very important.

You might come across the situation where you cannot see clearly, or our vision lacks focus. I suggest to write down more details in your action steps.

Do you suffer from fatigue, depression and stress? This is mostly due to a lack of clarity. If you can’t see your success, or what you need to do to create it, how can we expect to live it?

There is a proven technique called mental rehearsal which athletes are using. They visualise their success before any upcoming performance. Our brains and bodies tend to work most efficiently when they have a planned detailed picture to work on.  Your body and life’s direction follows your inner vision. People who have the most precise image tend to lead those whose vision is cloudy. They are the ones who are more successful and experience less stress. Others start to look up to them for guidance. If you want to lead a successful, meaningful life, visualise clearly.

Action steps for today:

  1. Now you’ve written down your seven top action steps. Take at least 5-10 minutes, sit in a comfortable position where you cannot be disturbed and take three deep breaths and close your eyes. Visualise stress-free completion of each step.
  2. While you keep breathing, focus on the details. Be specific. The more detailed you are, the easier it will be to follow through your action steps.
  3. Now, keep breathing and visualising your outcome as well as the journey. See how you achieve each of these 7 steps successfully until you feel this deep satisfaction. Enjoy this feeling. The mind creates a virtual reality that will manifest into reality.

Affirmation:

I can see myself succeeding; it is done. Wow, what a feeling!

Law of attraction reading for the week of 18 December 2017

law of attraction

Welcome to my weekly law of attraction reading. I am using the deck from Esther and Jerry Hicks :

For the week of the 18 December 2017 I pulled the following card:

My creative power lies in this moment

Whether you are thinking about something happening now, or something that happened in your past, or something you would like to have happen in your future – you are doing the thinking now, and it is this present-thought vibration that the law of attraction is responding to. Therefore – your power to create is NOW.

Do this when you just wanna be “bad”….

Alex here to tell you that sometimes you’ve just gotta let your rebellious inner child run wild and do some “naughty” things that would make your ancestors turn in their graves.

Wait – why am I talking about being naughty?

We put so much pressure on ourselves to behave well, do the right thing, eat right, look good— all that pressure can become crazy making.

Eventually, we’ve got to let off steam… but usually that takes place in the form of self-sabotaging our health, when what we REALLY want to do is be “bad” in some way.

I call this “Rebellious Inner Child Syndrome.”

What’s important about “Rebellious Inner Child Syndrome”?

It’s a way of rebelling against outside authority. A way of being bad for the sake of it. Most people don’t like being told what to do so we have our own mechanisms in place to help us rebel.

Some of these mechanisms may be outdated, dysfunctional or self-destructive so we want to stay away from those.

As health-conscious adults, we can revise our strategy for being “bad” while still getting the pleasure experience of being naughty.

Here are 10 healthy ways to be naughty….

1. Cut the “DO NOT REMOVE” tag from your mattress.

2. Have sex outside.

3. Give your kid a Mohawk without telling your spouse.

4. Draw a mustache on a poster.

5. Wear a short skirt with no panties.

6. Go through the express lane at the grocery store with more than 10 items.

7. Invent a character, dress up like him or her and talk to strangers in character.

8. Try washing something that says “dry-clean only”. (Be careful with this one)

9. Go to the movies an hour early and sneak in to watch the end of the other movies.

10. Make a prank call on your mom.

Add your own “naughty” items… The sky’s the limit… Set your rebellious inner child free!

What do I do now?

In my health coaching practice, I work with clients to spot how they are engaging in outdated, self-destructive behavior in a failed attempt to feel more free and alive.

Together we come up with new ways to feel free, alive and even wild!

Click here now to schedule a time to talk with me today about letting your rebellious inner child run wild and free!

Playing in the snow:

To your health!

Law of attraction reading for the week of 27 November 2017

Welcome to my weekly law of attraction reading. I am using the deck from Esther and Jerry Hicks :

For the week of the 27 November 2017 I pulled the following card:

“As I enjoy people, I attract enjoyable people.”

“I want great relationships. I so enjoy nice, clever, funny, energetic, stimulating people; and I love knowing that this planet is abundant with them. …It seems that the more I enjoy people, the more people whom I enjoy come into my experience. I love this time of spectacular co-creation.”

5 simple steps to gain clarity

gain clarity

Are you feeling confused and don’t know where to start, what exactly to do with your life or cannot make up your mind which path to follow? Or are you a creative person who wants to create your art but are not sure what and how?

That sounds familiar to me. When life gets in a way and fear is creeping in, we feel blocked. The creative juices don’t seem to flow. So, what do you do to get clarity?

Great question. I have been there a few times in my life where I was confused with lots of options or sometimes no idea at all. I have good news for you, there is a fix to that problem. I am going to share with you 5 simple steps of how to gain clarity, so your creative juices are flowing, and you will be receiving the guidance of what to do with your life.

But before I start sharing how to get clarity, why is this important?

Without being explicit in our vision, goals or creative project, we tend to procrastinate and find all sorts of distractions and excuses. We are not going to prioritise our project if we don’t even know exactly what it is we do. Suddenly there is a movie on Netflix you always wanted to see, or social media or youtube is getting your full attention for hours. Distractions are everywhere, and without a clear goal, we tend to distract our minds.

What happens if we don’t change that situation? Yes, you are right, nothing but we know everything about who posted what on social media. We have not achieved anything and might even get angry with ourselves.

So, I have a solution for you. Get clarity on what it is you want to achieve or create. Set an action plan in place and follow through with small achievable tasks. Once you are in the flow, you won’t even remember to check your social media accounts or watch a show on TV.

So, great stuff, how do we get clarity now?

1 Declutter your space to create

Not sure how your space looks like, mine can sometimes be pretty full of stuff I am currently working on, read or write, to do lists, notepads, bills and the list goes on. When I need to get clear on things, the first on my mind is to declutter my space. Otherwise, all the things in my creative space distract me.

A bright space makes you feel lighter. Your creativity is a flow of energy; when lots of stuff is floating around in your room, the energy cannot flow.

Don’t believe me? Try it.

2 Get out in the sun to catch some vitamin D or watch the stars

Being outside frees you from the energy that gets trapped within buildings. Even though that energy might be positive, see it as an energy which holds everything you have done already. However, you want to create something new, so you need new energy.

Artificial light is not healthy for a long time, so I recommend to get outside and catch some sunlight and breathe in some fresh air. If you are close to nature, this is even better. You don’t want to breathe in smog from the cars.

If you can get up early to watch the sunrise is perfect. The sunrise awakens your energy as it encourages flowers to open.

Vitamine D improves your cognitive functioning which is our ability to focus and think.

When you want to watch the sunset, it helps you to sleep, just as flowers close their petals at dusk. Makes sense, right?

Did you know that when you watch the stars, the starlight awakens your creative energy? Tune into your feelings while watching the starlight. This gives you clarity, insights and ideas about channelling your emotions into creative projects or gives you ideas about your life purpose.

Watching the stars is a form of self-hypnosis, similar to looking into a candle flame. Don’t bring your phone and just allow yourself to be.

Did you know that creatives get their best ideas between 2-6am while you sleep? It is handy to have a journal and a pen ready next to your bed in case your dream is telling you your new idea.

3 Connect with Nature

You don’t need to be outside during the night; you can also go for a walk in nature to get some clarity.  Modern research corroborates the link between natural surroundings and creativity. One study found that “interacting with nature has real, measurable benefits to creative problem-solving” and increases performance by 50%.

Being outside in nature and breathing fresh air helps you to release built-up stress and you are able to process your feelings while walking. You may find a particular place or object inspiring you. Try to change the way you usually walk, that way you may encounter something new you haven’t seen before. Feel free to hug trees, go for a walk on the beach or go for a swim and literally connect with nature.

When you are outdoors you will get clarity; there is an aha moment, a sense of epiphany. Allow yourself to be honest with yourself and your feelings. Don’t get stressed if you still cannot seem to find clarity. Be gentle with yourself and try the following day again and remember to just enjoy the moment. Make it a habit to be outdoors every day. It is excellent for your health and mental state but also helps you gain clarity about your creative project and life in general.

Remember not to force anything. Forcing comes from a fear of lack of ideas, lack of success and abundance, while creativity comes from trusting the flow.

 4 Meditation

Calm your mind, let go of all the mental clutter and tune into yourself. Practice mediations on a regular basis and connect with your body, mind and soul.

Oh, I can hear you saying, but I don’t have time. Remember, it only takes 10 min a day to experience a profound effect on your body and mind. If you still think you don’t have time, think again. Where do you do things which are not useful?

I recommend a chakra activation meditation. The sacral chakra is merely responsible for your creative flow and might be blocked. However, bear in mind that all of the chakras need to be activated and in flow to receive your inner guidance.

5 Stay away from negativity

Important is to stay away from negativity. This might be in the form of people you hang out or work with. You might be prone to taking on their energy which will block your creativity and inner voice. Ensure you are surrounded by positive people who inspire you rather than draining your energy.

When you follow these simple steps and get into the habit to do it on a regular basis, you will notice how creative and clear you will feel. Trust your inner voice and express your true inner feelings. Create to express and not to impress.

What if I tried all this but didn’t seem to work?

We mostly know what to do but find it hard to follow through. You probably tried it all, but maybe you were not consistent or stopped doing so because you don’t have the time? What if I tell you that you do have time and that time is used an easy excuse to shield ourselves from taking responsibilities in our life.

Do you feel you need an accountability partner, the right support and the proper steps to help you follow through? Do you want to discover what is stopping you from turning your passion into a career and learn how to overcome these, so you can transform your life? Then I invite you to book a complimentary breakthrough session with me here. In that breakthrough session you will walk away with some aha moments and know if you and I are a good match to work together.

Law of attraction reading for the week of 20 November 2017

Welcome to my weekly law of attraction reading. I am using the deck from Esther and Jerry Hicks :

For the week of the 20 November 2017 I pulled the following card:

“My thoughts are in harmony with health.”

“I want perfect health! I like feeling good. I enjoy my good-feeling body. I have many positive memories of feeling good in my body. I see many people who are clearly in a state of good health, and it is easy to see how much they are enjoying their good-feeling bodies. When I think thoughts like these, I feel good. These thoughts are in harmony with a healthy body.”

Law of attraction reading for the week of 13 November 2017

Welcome to my weekly law of attraction reading. I am using the deck from Esther and Jerry Hicks :

For the week of the 13 November 2017 I pulled the following card:

“I can feel positive while thinking positive.”

“The longer you stay focused upon what you do not want, the greater and more powerful that thought will become. But if you are sensitive to your emotions and you withdraw your attention from the unwanted very quickly, you will begin to feel better – and you will stop the attraction of the unwanted thing.”

How to start creating your product or service

In my previous posts, you discovered your real feelings and channelled them into a creative product or service. Well done. This could be your first step in supporting you with a full-time artistic career but how do you do this?

Great question.

On the one hand, you can create a product or service to help to heal or balancing the emotions, such as essential oils, bath salts, a book about feelings and emotions, crystal jewellery, a wellness retreat in Bali, you name it.

On the other hand, you can create a product to reflect and acknowledge the emotions; such as a song, a painting or photograph that captures the mood, a fiction book or movie using a character which embodies the feelings.

These are just a few examples. There are no limits to your creativity and no correct version of your art. See it as work in progress. It does not need to be perfect. Get it started and go with the flow. Perfection leads to frustration. Nothing in life is perfect. If you aim for perfection, you will chase your own tail all life long. Having a desire for a creation to accurately and authentically express your feelings is a more realistic intention that being perfect in creating a product or service.

How to overcome perfectionism?

The best way to deal with perfectionism is to start your project right in the middle. Starting a new big project seems daunting and can quickly overwhelm us. Overwhelm then leads to procrastination, which is a form of self-sabotage. The problem is once you start procrastinating you wait for the perfect moment where everything feels right, and you prepared. But guess what, this moment will never happen. A perfectionist will never be ready. Waiting around means that someone else might come up with your idea. Don’t be annoyed if that happens. The universe got the idea, and if you wait around for the perfect moment, someone else gets and will take this chance.

My advice is to devote time to your creative project and start in the middle. Don’t worry how to begin, this will come in later and probably will be much more apparent. Start with whatever you are passionate about. Trust the flow.

I think I need help, what do I do?
